Schroders-owned Benchmark Capital has completed its acquisition of the advice network Oculus Wealth Management, taking full control of the network, which is valued at approximately £4bn in assets under advice.
Benchmark first partnered with Oculus in 2015 and acquired a 51% majority stake in December 2022. Since then, Oculus has experienced rapid growth, expanding its network by 80% and overseeing 46 appointed representative firms. Oculus specialises in helping advisers transition from larger wealth management groups or private banks to establish independent practices.
This acquisition strengthens Benchmark's position in the advice market and aligns with its strategic growth plan that focuses on selective and complementary acquisitions. The existing management team at Oculus, led by Managing Director Duncan Read, will remain in place to ensure continuity for clients and advisers.
Benchmark CEO Ed Dymott commented that the collaboration has "built a compelling proposition together that’s been highly successful in attracting advisers from wealth managers and private banks to set up their own practices."
With this latest acquisition, Benchmark Capital and its subsidiary, Benchmark Financial Planning, have completed sixteen acquisitions, further reinforcing their strategy to expand through a network approach.
