Deal summary

Shackleton Advisers has agreed to acquire Aberdein Considine Wealth, trading as AC Wealth, significantly expanding its financial planning business in Scotland.

AC Wealth brings approximately £800m in assets under management and advice, alongside 40 employees including 14 FCA-authorised financial advisers. The transaction will take Shackleton’s assets under management and advice in Scotland to more than £1.3bn.

Financial terms have not been disclosed and the transaction remains subject to approval from the Financial Conduct Authority.

Following completion, Shackleton will operate from offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh, while maintaining local representation in Perth and Stirling. Its Scottish business will be divided into two regions, with Aberdeen becoming the principal office for Scotland East and Glasgow serving as the principal office for Scotland West.

About Shackleton

Shackleton is a London-headquartered Chartered financial advice and wealth management group led by chief executive Paul Feeney. The Shackleton brand launched in December 2024 following the rebranding of the Skerritts Group, bringing its acquired financial planning firms together under a single national identity and operating model.

US private equity firm Lee Equity Partners became Shackleton’s majority shareholder in November 2025, replacing Sovereign Capital Partners as its principal financial backer. Carlyle subsequently became a minority investor following Shackleton’s acquisition of Argentis Group, formerly Hurst Point Group.

Shackleton has continued to expand through acquisitions alongside its organic growth strategy, adding firms across the UK and developing specialist capabilities in areas including investment management, employee benefits, personal injury and Court of Protection advice.

About AC Wealth

AC Wealth is an independent financial planning business headquartered in Aberdeen, with a presence across Scotland. Its services include pensions and retirement planning, investments, estate planning and employee benefits.

The business developed within law firm Aberdein Considine before becoming a separate limited company in June 2025. Aberdein Considine and AC Wealth continued to work closely following the restructuring, including from shared office locations.

Jennifer Paice is chief executive of AC Wealth and will continue to lead the business through its transition into Shackleton.

Why is Shackleton acquiring AC Wealth?

The transaction substantially increases the scale of Shackleton’s existing Scottish operation rather than establishing a new presence in the country. Shackleton already operates in Scotland following its acquisition of Save & Invest, which brought offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth into the group in December 2024.

AC Wealth adds an established Aberdeen operation, approximately £800m in assets and 14 authorised advisers. This gives Shackleton greater coverage across both eastern and western Scotland and supports its decision to establish separate Scotland East and Scotland West regions.

The transaction also fits Aberdein Considine’s decision to focus investment on its core legal practice. The law firm said the move followed AC Wealth’s transition into a separate limited company in 2025.

What happens next?

The acquisition remains subject to FCA approval.

AC Wealth’s existing advisers and teams are expected to continue looking after their clients following completion, with Shackleton retaining its local presence across Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Stirling.
